Shelter Slumber PAW-ty Raises Over $1 Million for Animal Shelters—One Night, Countless Lives Saved

What do you get when you combine sleeping bags, shelters, and a whole lot of heart?

A record-breaking night of generosity called the Shelter Slumber PAW-ty, where participants across the U.S. slept overnight in animal shelters to raise money for homeless pets—and it worked like a charm.

The event raised over $1 million nationwide, with shelter heroes and pet lovers bedding down next to cages and kennels, all in the name of love, fur, and second chances.

Shoutout to Kevin McKay in Florida

One standout participant was our friend Kevin McKay from WKSM in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, who cozied up at SOCKS (Save Our Cats and Kittens)—a local cat rescue.

Kevin originally set out to raise $2,000, but by the time the sun came up, he’d brought in $2,400 for his feline friends.

“I wasn’t sure if I’d even sleep a wink with all the purring and meowing,” Kevin said, “but it was 1000% worth it to help these amazing animals.”

How the Slumber PAW-ty Works

Participants commit to sleeping overnight at a shelter and ask friends, family, or followers to sponsor them. Some curled up in kennels, others bunked down in playrooms or cattery corners—and yes, there were plenty of dog snores and surprise cuddle sessions.

The campaign not only raised money but also brought in tons of new awareness and adoption interest for shelters from coast to coast.

Final Thoughts

In a world where fundraising can sometimes feel impersonal, this event proved that getting a little uncomfortable can go a long way—especially when it means a dog or cat finds their forever home.

Big paws up to everyone who joined in—and Kevin, we hope you got your catnap afterward.
