Can Money Buy Happiness? A New Poll Says… Not Quite—but It Can Buy Influence, Status, and Maybe Even Good Health

They say money can’t buy everything, but a new poll suggests it can definitely buy more than we’d like to admit.

Over 1,000 people were asked whether 20 intangible things—like happiness, intelligence, and love—can be bought with money. The responses show just how much we believe cash can influence life’s gray areas.

So, can money buy happiness? 35% said no way—but a solid 63% believe it can, at least to some extent.

Here’s how the results shook out, from the most “buyable” to the least:

Top 5 Things People Say Money Can Buy:

1. Political Influence – 85% say money talks (and apparently, votes too)
2. Social Status – 86% say the right outfit and zip code can take you far
3. Fun – 85% agree that yes, jet skis and front row concert seats help
4. Career Success – 78% say money opens doors (and sometimes hires someone to walk through them for you)
5. Legal Immunity – 71% think money can buy you out of trouble. Oof.

Middle of the Pack:

Good health? 75% say yes—whether it’s private doctors or boutique wellness plans.
Physical attractiveness? 72% say you can buy your way to a glow-up.
Happiness? 63% say it’s at least for sale on a trial basis.
Longer life? 62% say yes—especially if you can afford early detection and luxury probiotics.

But Money Can’t Buy You This (Probably):

Love (55% say nope),
Talent (62% say it’s gotta be natural),
Intelligence (65% said you can’t fake brains with Benjamins),
A sense of humor (75% said that comes from within),
And good morals? 80% of people say absolutely not.

Though let’s be honest… we’ve all seen those billionaires try.

Final Thoughts

So, can money buy everything? Not quite. But it turns out money can buy a lot—including influence, fun, and even a better shot at good health.

But for love, humor, and inner peace? You’re still gonna have to earn those the old-fashioned way.
