Cat Reunited with Owner After a Year Apart—Depressed Shelter Kitty Turns Out to Be “November”

Here’s one for the “you might need tissues” folder.

A gray cat left sick, scared, and alone at an Indiana veterinary clinic over a year ago is finally back where she belongs—with the owner who never stopped missing her.

It started over a year ago when a sick and lost gray cat was brought into a clinic. She was later transferred to a local animal shelter, where staff worked hard to nurse her back to health.

She recovered and was eventually adopted—but returned shortly after. And that’s when things took a heartbreaking turn.

The shelter noticed the cat began to withdraw and become depressed, seemingly broken by the rejection.

But last week, everything changed.

A Familiar Face on the Website

While browsing the shelter’s adoption listings online, a woman named Erianna spotted the gray cat—and froze. She realized it was her missing cat, “November”, who had disappeared over a year ago.

She rushed to the shelter to confirm—and the moment was pure magic.

Staff say both Erianna and November immediately recognized each other, with purrs, tears, and full-on emotional overload.

“She was a different cat the moment she saw Erianna,” said one shelter volunteer. “It was like someone flipped a switch.”

A Happy Ending, At Last

November is now back home, safe and sound, with the person who’s loved her all along. The shelter staff, who had grown attached to the quiet, withdrawn cat, say it was the kind of reunion that makes every tough day worth it.

Final Thoughts

It’s a story about second chances, deep connections, and the kind of bond that even time and separation can’t break.

Welcome home, November.
