In a somber turn for music lovers worldwide, Brian Wilson, the genius behind the iconic sound of The Beach Boys, has passed away at the age of 82. Although the exact date and cause of his passing remain undisclosed, it was known that Wilson had been battling dementia and was under a conservatorship since last year.
Wilson’s influence on pop music is immeasurable. As a founding member of The Beach Boys, his songwriting prowess and unique melodies propelled the band to stardom, often placing them in direct rivalry with The Beatles. The global music community shares in the mourning, with tributes pouring in from fellow artists. Ron Wood of The Rolling Stones encapsulated the collective sorrow, reflecting, “Oh no Brian Wilson and Sly Stone in one week… my world is in mourning.”
