Every May, we rack our brains trying to figure out how to show appreciation to the moms in our lives—jewelry? Brunch? Flowers that wilt in two days? Turns out, the answer is much simpler and significantly more horizontal: Let Mom nap.

According to a new survey, 60% of moms say they’d happily trade traditional Mother’s Day gifts for the sweet, uninterrupted bliss of a nap. And really, can you blame them? In a world where sleep is a mythical creature for most parents, the idea of “napping with no one needing you” is considered the ultimate luxury.

In fact, 94% of moms said they’d like more sleep in general, which means the gift they want can’t be found in a store—it’s peace, quiet, and a do-not-disturb sign. When asked about other simple pleasures, moms revealed that eating a meal while it’s still hot, not making any decisions, and using the bathroom alone also rank high on the Mother’s Day wish list.

Here’s the kicker: nearly two-thirds of moms haven’t taken a nap in the last month, and 25% can’t even remember the last time they napped. That’s not just tired—that’s practically a lifestyle.

Sure, thoughtful cards and quality family time warm the heart, and dinner out is always nice. But this year, the greatest gesture might be giving Mom a complete break from everything. Handle the breakfast. Manage the chaos. Keep the bathroom door shut. Give her the remote—and the room to herself.

Because when it comes to honoring Mom, it turns out the biggest flex isn’t diamonds—it’s doing the dishes and letting her sleep through it.
