About the Song

"We Found Love" is a song by the Bajan singer Rihanna featuring Scottish DJ Calvin Harris. It was released as the lead single from Rihanna's sixth album, Talk That Talk (2011), and was later included on Harris' 2012 album 18 Months. Produced and written by Harris, "We Found Love" premiered on September 22, 2011, and received polarized reviews from music critics upon release. "We Found Love" is an uptempo EDM song, with elements of electro house, dance-pop, techno, trance, Eurodance, Euro disco and Europop. Its lyrics speak of a couple who "found love in a hopeless place".

Meaning Behind the Lyrics

The lyrics of "We Found Love" can be read as an exploration of the joy and intensity of love that can arise in unexpected and challenging circumstances. Many listeners interpret the song as a celebration of finding connection amid chaos, emphasizing the transformative power of love even when surroundings seem bleak. The energetic and upbeat production enhances this theme, suggesting that love can uplift and inspire, offering hope in difficult times. This duality of love’s brightness juxtaposed with darker contexts leaves a lasting impression, resonating with anyone who has experienced love's profound impact.
